Migr-Distribution

Ano­ther spe­cial soft­ware deve­lo­ped by FABES is MIGR-DISTRIBUTION. Com­pared to other soft­ware pro­grams such as MIGRATEST© EXP or MIGRAPIPE©, in which the input data have fixed values (deter­mi­ni­stic inputs), the migra­ti­on in MIGR-DISTRIBUTION is cal­cu­la­ted with input data dis­tri­bu­ti­ons, i.e. sto­cha­stic inputs. This allows a natu­ral or man-made vari­ance of the indi­vi­du­al input para­me­ters to be taken into account.

Mon­te Car­lo methods are used to sel­ect values for seve­ral thousand migra­ti­on cal­cu­la­ti­ons from the­se input data dis­tri­bu­ti­ons. The result is not a migra­ti­on fixed value, but a migra­ti­on value dis­tri­bu­ti­on. Such cal­cu­la­ti­ons can be used as a basis for esti­mat­ing con­su­mer expo­sure. This has alre­a­dy been done at FABES for pla­s­tic pack­a­ging for bever­a­ges, for cheese and sau­sa­ge pro­ducts and for card­board pack­a­ging (see “Pro­jects”).
