Use

The MIGRATEST© Suite plat­form unites seve­ral pro­grams that were deve­lo­ped within the frame­work of a REACH project

The pro­gram MIGRATEST© XTR (“extrusi­on”) can model the sce­na­rio of an extru­si­on of a pla­s­tic mate­ri­al and its sub­se­quent coo­ling in e.g. a water bath and quick­ly esti­ma­te how high the con­ta­mi­na­ti­on of the water bath by migrants from the coo­ling poly­mer is. The result makes it pos­si­ble to esti­ma­te whe­ther the coo­ling water needs to be clea­ned or not.

The soft­ware pro­gram MIGRATEST© SKN (“skin”) can be used to model the migra­ti­on of a sub­s­tance from a pla­s­tic mate­ri­al into and through the skin when the cor­re­spon­ding sub­s­tance con­stants (of the indi­vi­du­al skin lay­ers and the pla­s­tic) are known. Here, both the com­plex struc­tu­re of the skin and the spe­ci­fic pla­s­tic-skin cont­act pro­per­ties can be taken into account. Unless you have spe­ci­fic data, at least the “worst case” for a sub­s­tance can be cal­cu­la­ted quick­ly. In com­bi­na­ti­on with “Pam­pa” expe­ri­ments (i.e. test­ing with the help of arti­fi­ci­al skin sys­tems), even more rea­li­stic esti­ma­tes can be made here.

The third pro­gram of the SUITE plat­form is MIGRATEST© SPH (“sphe­ri­cal”), which was desi­gned for the cal­cu­la­ti­on of the migra­ti­on of a sub­s­tance from poly­mer gra­nu­la­te into a liquid cont­act medi­um (water, sol­vent, etc.). The soft­ware takes into account the size of the spe­ci­fic cont­act area bet­ween the gra­nu­les and the cont­act medi­um and the fact that migra­ti­on is redu­ced due to mutu­al cont­act bet­ween the gra­nu­le particles.
